At Cascade Pacific Eyecare, we perform comprehensive eye exams for people with diabetes. Because diabetes can damage your eyes, annual dilated eye exams are extremely important. We will be looking for diabetic retinopathy, which is a leaking of the blood vessels on the inside of the back of the eye. This blood leakage can damage the nerve tissue on the back of the eye called the retina. You would usually not experience any symptoms until it was quite advanced. If necessary, we will refer you to a retinal specialist who can evaluate your eyes further. By checking for it at least annually, we can catch developing problems early, before they advance enough to affect your vision.

Once we have performed the examination, we will send a report to your primary care doctor or your endocrinologist. By working together, your doctor and Cascade Pacific Eyecare will help you to ensure that your eyes stay as healthy as they can be.
